Project Description
For our project we decided to try and create a way to reduce wildfires. We decided to do this because of all the wildfires that have burnt through California and we wanted to prevent that from happening again. We did a lot of research on how wildfires spread and are started. We decided to design a drone that would detect fires before they got out of control. We chose to use the DJI Mavic pro as our drone because it has a long battery time and it's dependable and programmable. We used the Flir infrared camera because it has a high range. We created a pattern for all of our drones that allowed them to scan the forest constantly.
Concepts
We used trigonometry in our project to find the radius that the infrared cameras can scan at their given height. Trigonometry is formulas that can be used to find lengths or angles in right triangles.
Reflection
I think i did a very good job too doing my fair part in this project. Our group collaborated well and we always managed to divide work evenly and get it done. We managed to make our work fun but we still got it done. I learned how to keep a group of friends from goofing off and making sure we all still stayed on task. It was very easy to organize and we followed our gantt chart the whole time.
Design Cycle
1.We first identified our need as Wildfires
2. We all researched three websites on wildfires
3. We brainstormed possible soluions
4. We eventually decided on drones
5. We found ways to make it work and found the calculations.
6. Made sure it could work but found flaws
7. Made our presentation
8. We found to many flaws and decided we should renew our idea
